December gifts logged in three places mean nobody can say, on any given day, how far the appeal is from its goal.

The fix starts as a discipline: one row per gift, with date, amount, campaign, source and thank-you status. Totals and progress should be calculated from those rows, never typed. A gift with no campaign counts toward no goal, so missing fields should be flagged. And the same donor, date and amount appearing twice should be marked for review, not deleted, because two identical gifts can be real.

Here is the before and after in our sample file. Before: a list of 121 gifts to a fictional animal rescue. After, on 20 December: 15,340 raised against 41,000 in combined goals (37%), the Holiday Appeal at 62% of its 20,000 target with 11 days left, 18 thank-yous still pending and 2 rows to check as possible duplicates.

That is the Holiday Donation Tracker for Excel and Google Sheets. It shows up to 12 campaigns with % of target, average gift, days left and status, gifts by source, and a 12-week trend with a running total. Rows are flagged, never deleted.

It isn't a CRM or a receipting system, and nothing imports from payment platforms or bank feeds. Each gift is a row you enter, up to 500.
